This statement is made in accordance with Section 54 of the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015 for and on behalf of SurrealDB Limited and its subsidiaries. It sets out the steps SurrealDB takes to help ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or supply chain. This statement was prepared by the SurrealDB legal team, in consultation with key areas of the SurrealDB’s business.
We are committed to acting with integrity in our business activities and to ensuring that our business operates in a socially responsible way and strives to ensure that no form of modern slavery or child labour is taking place in its operations.
SurrealDB develops and offers software and services to businesses. We are a multi-model, cloud-ready database built for both modern and traditional applications with versatility and emphasis on developer experience. We were founded in 2021 and are headquartered in London, England.
We operate a number of internal policies and procedures to help ensure we are conducting business in an ethical manner. These include:
Code of Conduct. This code explains the manner in which we behave as an organisation and how we expect our employees to act.
Recruitment and Employment Practices. SurrealDB has procedures in place with respect to recruitment and employment practices, including conducting eligibility to work in the country of employment checks for employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.
Ethics Concerns Reporting. SurrealDB offers a number of ways for employees and others to raise ethics concerns, including through a reporting line operated by a third party, so that all employees know that they can raise concerns about how colleagues are treated, or practices within our business or supply chain, without fear of reprisals.
Our key suppliers are typically in the fields of technology, facilities, SaaS subscriptions, cloud services, marketing services, and professional advisory services. SurrealDB is committed to working with suppliers that are complying with applicable laws and regulations, including laws relating to minimum wages, working conditions, overtime, child labour, and other applicable labor and environmental laws. Overall, due to the nature of SurrealDB’s business and taking into account modern slavery and child labour risk factors, we have determined that our modern slavery and child labor risk is low. Nevertheless, we recognise such risks can exist for organisations across the globe, especially with regard to product manufacturing and physical operating requirements, and we continue to review our risk assessments, supply chain selection, management processes, and policies with that in mind. SurrealDB seeks to obtain contractual assurances from its suppliers to remain compliant at all times with applicable laws and regulations, which includes the Modern Slavery Act.
We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain if no reports are received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery or human trafficking practices have been identified.
This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors of SurrealDB Ltd.
