Twenty years in one Context

Seven members, five threads and 849 posts between 1999 and 2019, all in a single Agent Memory Context. Before every post, a member's memory was read as of that exact moment. This page shows what that memory held over the years, where it came from, and who could see what.

Memory that lasts twenty years

Each bar is one thread, split by when its recalled memories were written. The forum posts and private notes a member got back came partly from the thread under way (grey) and partly from earlier threads (blue, the older the more prominent). The band of 1999 memories is still there in 2019: twenty years on, 28% of what members recalled came from the first thread.

Everything Agent Memory returned for one 2019 post, grouped by the thread it was recorded in, with each dot sized by how many items it holds: #31 by TheyKnow. Shared and private memory in one Context

The news and the forum are shared scopes that every member reads. Each member also has a private scope for notes to self: predictions, bets, and opinions of the others. The private notes sit in the same Context as everything else, yet each one came back only to the member who wrote it.

Across all five threads, private notes were returned 7044 times, every time to their owner, and 0 times to anyone else. Separate per-user stores would each need their own copy of the forum; one shared index could not keep the notes private.

How the board grew closer

How warmly each member felt about each other member, read from the feelings recorded before every post. In the first three threads TheyKnow, the conspiracy theorist, is at odds with everyone and they are at odds with him. From 2012 he warms to almost everyone, while the others come round more slowly. Nothing in the setup asked for this: it comes from what the members remembered about each other from one thread to the next.

Where recalled memory comes from

Every recalled item carries its provenance: a news report, a private note, a forum post, or a fact Agent Memory extracted itself. That is what lets each post's memory card show where a belief came from.
